The Power of Cloud: Wipro’s 5 Tenets of Cloud Computing
The Power of Cloud: Wipro’s 5 Tenets of Cloud Computing
September 2021
In July of 2021, Wipro renewed its focus on cloud technology, investing $1 billion to expand cloud transformation capabilities and launching Wipro FullStride Cloud Services, a suite of offerings aimed at aligning business and IT goals on the cloud for greater success.
Cloud technology hold tremendous potential as a catalyst for business growth. It is a foundational technology, capable of amplifying all aspects of interactions between an entity and all stakeholder groups – customers & business partners, employees, shareholders, government institutions, communities and the planet at large.
The following five points highlight the range of capabilities the cloud offers as well as what these capabilities mean to Wipro and its customers.
1. Collaboration
Close collaboration with clients, both internally and externally, helps develop market-differentiating capabilities and get stuff done
The cloud makes it easier to store data, access data, and build intelligent workflows. Organizations can leverage the cloud to share information with employees, customers, suppliers, partners, and enable greater collaboration between these groups, encouraging innovation and unlocking new revenue streams and growth that might not otherwise be possible. Wipro and Microsoft, for example, leveraged cloud technology to help more than thirty global enterprise clients transition their operations to cloud-based Teams. Our clients have reduced unnecessary friction in the business.
We also developed, EcosystemNXT, a joint offering with WorkSpan to help our customers innovate, develop, certify, launch, and monetize joint solutions with their ecosystem partners across technology, telecom, industrial, and other verticals with end-to-end trust, governance and agility, thus supporting cross-collaboration and unlocking new markets and growth areas.
Accessibility and virtual collaboration have become particularly important since 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic forced a sudden shift to remote work. Businesses that had already migrated some operations to the cloud were better positioned to switch to remote work than those that were restricted to on-site servers and processes.
2. Agility
Be quick responding to changing customer demands, employee needs, market and competitor dynamics and regulatory/compliance changes.
The pace of change is accelerating, and businesses need to stay agile if they hope to keep up. With cloud, they can.
As our clients adapt to the market either via large transformation initiatives or incremental improvements, we are using the cloud to deliver a range of offerings as a service — platform as a service (PaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), software as a service (SaaS) — to add scale and velocity to their change
We are enabling DevSecOps, a streamlined approach to development that emphasizes collaboration between teams to develop, test, and launch higher-quality products faster. Through DevOps integrations, Wipro has helped clients embrace uncertainty, transform their delivery models with enhancements like standardizing orchestration across projects and applying service delivery templates, automating testing and deployment. With these upgrades, clients have accelerated their speed of development while staying safe. For example, we built a highly scalable and reliable Telemetry data platform to provide key insights into usage and product quality issues. This enabled our software client to stay agile and improve customer retention and satisfaction.
3. Strategic & Operational
Align cloud programs with strategic imperatives for clients while supporting and innovating on operational levers.
We help organizations realize a cloud-first vision quickly and effectively through our agile consulting-led approach, transformation toolkit, and our proprietary solutions such as Cloud AssessTM, InsightixTM and VirtuaDeskTM, which glean insights into the current state of the cloud network and desktop landscapes and tie them to business cases.
SAP, for example, enables data-sharing and helps businesses streamline business processes. Running these processes on the cloud rather than on site offers greater flexibility, accessibility, and scalability. Wipro has helped enterprise clients access this potential by migrating their SAP operations to Google Cloud. Leveraging our robust SAP cloud-migration framework Safe Passage to Cloud, and proprietary tooling framework MigMan (Migration Manager), we enable a smooth, risk-free migration to Google Cloud in near-zero down-time.
Wipro worked with a leading producer of high-end semiconductors that wanted to migrate all its on-premise workloads to the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Migrating such complex operations from locations around the world would require a thorough understanding of the client’s operations, which Wipro had developed over years working with companies in the field, helping them navigate similar transformations. Leveraging deep understanding of the semiconductor industry and our technical knowledge, Wipro planned and executed a seamless, speedy transition to the GCP, elevating the client’s overall operations.
4. Human-centric
Adoption is key. Keep a human-centric mindset while creating cloud solutions.
Wipro’s work with NRGi, an energy and utilities company based in Denmark, used cloud computing to enhance the customer experience by making essential information more organized and accessible. Regulations in Denmark were changing, and NRGi saw an opportunity to re-imagine its operations in line with new laws and new demands from its customers. Wipro deployed a customer information system (CIS) as a service, enabling the company to upgrade its CRM and its flexibility simultaneously.
Designit, a Wipro design company, also leveraged Microsoft’s cloud solution Azure to help the world’s first ultra-accessible™ theme park create a fully interactive virtual experience. The solution was a cloud-based map that provides an immersive, 360-degree simulation so people can experience the magic of the park even if they can’t leave their homes. This human-centered solution helped the company go above and beyond to deliver on its promise of ultra-accessibility.
With the launch of Wipro FullStride Cloud Services and Cloud Studio, Wipro teams and client teams now have spaces where they can work together developing and testing cloud solutions. The platforms provide more than 1,000 blueprints and over 40 pre-built industry solutions for fast prototyping, but clients can also work with our teams to design, develop, and manage their own cloud project.
5. Aligned with industry-specific needs
Understand where the industry is heading to predict what the business needs — now and down the line.
This sense of where things are headed is a key part of our process and allows us to build truly market-leading differentiators.
Wipro has helped companies identify where things are going and implement the technologies they need to keep up. For a top-ten global software company, Wipro leveraged extensive domain knowledge in quote-to-cash, revenue management, and customer management to support their acquisition-based strategy. By re-designing their process and retiring more than twenty-five applications with SaaS applications, we helped future-proof the company for growth.
In our work with Precision Group, the manufacturer based in the Middle East, we identified a cloud-based solution that aligned the company’s vision for growth with the industry trends of a connected factory floor. By integrating Oracle Cloud, we helped Precision Group overhaul their operations across the board, increasing transparency, efficiency, and operability for significant gains and business growth.
Cloud computing can unlock significant opportunities for businesses across nine business dimensions: customer experience, cost, compliance, revenue, risk reduction, operational efficiency, people experience, products, and partner management. As a global leader in business and IT services, Wipro is committed to helping organizations identify those opportunities and successfully integrate the best cloud solutions to propel business forward and to a sustainable planet.
