Ambition

The customer is the sixth-largest U.S. accounting and advisory organization, engaged Wipro to enhance the resilience and efficiency of its IT operations. With 59 offices across the U.S., approximately 8,500 employees, and annual revenue exceeding $1.9 billion, the customer sought a partner to address critical challenges in IT governance, security, and automation.

With Wipro's expertise, the customer aimed to strengthen its IT infrastructure, improve governance, and ensure seamless operations, enabling the firm to focus on its core mission of delivering exceptional accounting and advisory services to clients. 

Action

Wipro deployed a dedicated team from the Enterprise Digital Operations Center (EDOC) to manage customer IT operations and enable the customer to harness the full potential of AWS Cloud.

Wipro initiated its engagement with a comprehensive assessment of customer's IT landscape, identifying key challenges such as inconsistent security practices, outdated software, unpatched vulnerabilities, and inefficient backup and provisioning processes across nine environments. Notable findings included the absence of robust backup automation, critical vulnerabilities in security assessments, and the need for streamlined provisioning to enhance scalability and compliance.

The Wipro team implemented significant improvements across operations management, security, observability, and FinOps areas. Deploying CloudWatch for AWS resources monitoring and integrated Security Hub, Amazon Inspector helped strengthen observability and security and compliance management. Secure access to AWS resources was enabled. Established secure remote desktop protocol (RDP) connections for critical servers to remediate vulnerabilities caused by port issues. simplifying instance access and management. Additionally, integrated ServiceNow with the client's ticketing system for streamlined IT service management (ITSM) processes. The team began enforcing security best practices for data in rest and in transit. Along with this, critical vulnerabilities were remediated with zero downtime, ensuring seamless operations. A new backup policy was configured across all AWS accounts in alignment with the customer’s standard guidelines. All systems had automated server patches applied, and patching compliance was maintained.

By transforming the customer cloud operations Wipro helped them to realize more than one million dollars in cost saving per annum. We performed vulnerability remediation across multiple AWS accounts, significantly improving the vulnerability score and achieving 100% automation in key areas including backups.
